Curragh of Kildare (Amendment) Bill 2022
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The Curragh of Kildare (Amendment) Bill 2022 would change the rules for managing and using the Curragh so the Defence Minister could issue licences allowing people to occupy part of it for a set period. It defines “continuous occupation” broadly, covering living or staying there with a vehicle, tent, caravan, shelter or similar structure for three days or more. Without a licence, staying on the Curragh for 24 hours or more would become an offence, with penalties that could include fines or prison. It also gives the Minister power to make further regulations about how the system would work.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Curragh of Kildare Act 1961 to make provision for the management and use of the Curragh whereby the Minister may grant a licence to persons for continuous occupation of any part of the Curragh for a specified period of time, and to provide for related matters.
