Planning and Development (Amendment) (Breach of Building Regulations) Bill 2022

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

The proposed change would make a developer’s past failure to meet building regulations something planning authorities must take into account when deciding on planning permission. In plain terms, it aims to stop repeat breaches from being ignored and to make compliance with building standards more important at the planning stage. That matters because it could strengthen building safety and accountability before new projects are approved.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to amend the Planning and Development Act 2000 and to provide for related matters.
