Planning and Development (Liquefied Natural Gas - LNG) (Amendment) Bill 2022

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

The measure would change planning law so that permission could not be granted for new liquefied natural gas, or LNG, infrastructure. It would also take LNG projects out of the list of “strategic” developments that can get a faster planning process, making them harder to approve and signalling a stronger policy against new LNG facilities.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to provide for the amendment of the Planning and Development Act 2000 in order to restrict developments in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) infrastructure and to remove LNG infrastructure from listing as strategic development infrastructure projects.
