Planning and Development, Maritime and Valuation (Amendment) Bill 2022
Public bill · Government · Presented
From the title and explanatory notes, the main focus is to speed up and simplify planning procedures, especially where someone has already built without the right permission and needs to regularise it. It would remove the first “leave to apply” step for substitute consent, let An Bord Pleanála handle some future development applications alongside substitute consent, and tighten the rules so retention requests are screened for environmental assessment and refused where needed. It also appears to make related changes across planning, maritime planning, and valuation law, including short-term rental restrictions in rent pressure zones and updates to review and appeal processes.
