Personal Protective Equipment (Covid-19) Bill 2022

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

Aiming to protect workers during Covid-19, this proposal would require employers to provide FFP2-grade masks or better when ordinary workplace measures are not enough to reduce infection risk. It specifically makes clear that the rule would cover education, childcare and healthcare settings, including schools, creches, colleges, universities, hospitals, primary care centres and nursing homes. It would also require a review of the new rules within three months of taking effect.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to amend the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 to ensure employers provide employees with FFP-2 grade masks, or higher, where necessary during the Covid-19 pandemic, in particular to education workers and healthcare workers, and to provide for a review of this provision within 3 months of enactment.
