Short-term Lettings Enforcement Bill 2022
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
Aims to stop estate agents and online platforms from advertising or listing short-term lets that do not meet the planning rules for homes in rent pressure zones. It would make it an offence to advertise or let a house, or part of one, for short-term stays unless it complies with the 2019 regulations, and it would allow the Housing Minister to set up spot fines for breaches. In plain terms, it is meant to tighten enforcement so homes are not used for unauthorised short-term rentals.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend section 38 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended) to require estate agents and online platforms to only advertise properties that are compliant with the Planning and Development Act 2000 (Exempted Development) (No. 2) Regulations 2019.
