Planning and Development (Ministerial Guidelines) Bill 2022
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The bill would remove the rule that planning authorities, regional assemblies and An Bord Pleanála must follow certain ministerial planning guidelines, and it would stop future guidelines from including mandatory policy requirements. It would give local councillors and councils more control over their own city and county development plans, with the aim of better reflecting local needs and priorities. It also says this should support stronger public involvement in planning and more sustainable development.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Planning and Development Acts 2000 to 2021 and for that purpose to amend section 28 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 in relation to ministerial guidelines and to provide for related matters.
