Planning and Development Regulations (Amendment) (Solar Energy for Schools and Community Buildings) Bill 2022

Would allow schools and community buildings to install solar panels without having to apply for planning permission, by changing the planning rules that currently apply. It also defines what counts as a school and a community building for this purpose and sets out when the change would take effect. The aim is to make it easier and quicker for public buildings to generate their own clean electricity, cutting costs and supporting climate action.

Bill entitled an Act to make provision for the installation of solar panels on school and community buildings without the need for planning permission, and for this purpose to amend S.I. No. 600 of 2001.
