Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) (No. 2) Bill 2022
Public bill · Government · Presented
The measure would change hospital charging rules so some people no longer have to pay the usual daily charge for acute public in-patient care. It would remove those charges for children under 16 in all public hospitals and also exempt people who are already paying private in-patient charges under the Health Act. It matters because it reduces the cost of hospital stays for families with children and avoids double-charging private patients.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Health Act 1970 to provide for certain exemptions from charges for acute in-patient services; and to provide for related matters.
