Education (Inspection of Individual Education Plans for Children with Special Needs) Bill 2022
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The proposal would give the education inspectorate a new role in checking how often individual education plans are used for children with special educational needs and how good those plans are. It would require the inspectorate to report to the Minister for Education on this every year, so there is a clearer picture of whether these supports are in place and working well. That matters because it could help identify gaps and improve consistency for children who need extra support in school.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Education Act 1998 to grant additional functions to the Inspectorate to examine and report to the Minister on the prevalence and standard of individual educational plans for children with special educational needs on an annual basis; and to provide for related matters.
