Criminal Justice (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2022

Public bill · Government · Presented

Updates a wide range of criminal law rules, with the biggest changes aimed at violence and stalking. It would make conspiracy to murder punishable by up to life in prison, create new offences for non-fatal strangulation and suffocation, and give clearer, stronger law on harassment and stalking, including court orders to keep an abuser away and bans on contact. It also makes a series of technical changes to firearms, evidence, bail, domestic violence and other laws, and adds extra protections for victims and witnesses.
