Coercion of a Minor (Misuse of Drugs Amendment) Bill 2022
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
Proposes making it a specific crime to cause or force a child to hold drugs for sale or supply, even if only a small amount is involved. It would also make prosecution easier by removing the need to prove the drug is a controlled drug or that the accused knew the child was a child, and cases could be taken to the Circuit Court with penalties of up to 10 years in prison and/or a fine.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the law relating to the misuse of a controlled substance and for those purposes to amend the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 to criminalise the act of causing or coercing a minor to be in possession of a controlled substance, and to provide for related matters.
