Social Welfare (Child Benefit) Bill 2023

Public bill · Government · Presented

Sets up a temporary power to pay an extra bonus to people getting Child Benefit, rather than changing the payment permanently. It also puts a time limit on that power, so it would stop applying after 31 December 2023. In practical terms, it gives the Government flexibility to deliver a once-off boost to families with children.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to modify, for a certain period, the effect of section 292 of the Social Welfare Consolidation Act 2005; and to provide for related matters.
