River Boyne Task Force Bill 2023
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
Creates a special River Boyne Task Force within the Eastern and Midland Regional Assembly to focus on the river and its catchment area, from source to mouth, including tributaries, lakes, and the Boyne navigations. It would bring together local councillors and outside experts to shape policy, protect wildlife and habitats, tackle pollution, coordinate planning and improvement works, and improve public access and enjoyment of the river. It also allows for some related river-management functions to be transferred to the task force if approved, while requiring it to stay within available resources and to work in line with environmental protections.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to establish a committee of the Eastern and Midland Regional Assembly to serve as a River Boyne Task Force with the function of proposing and promoting policies and priorities for the protection and enhancement of the environment of the River Boyne and of its natural habitats and wildlife and the co-ordination of the activities of public authorities in relation thereto; and to provide for connected matters.
