Remuneration Information and Pay Transparency Bill 2023
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The proposed changes would make pay more open and easier to compare. Employers with 50 or more staff would not be allowed to ask job applicants about their current or past pay, and job ads would have to include the salary or salary range unless there is a good reason not to. Larger employers would also have to publish pay information for advertised jobs and, if they leave it out, explain why and say how they will improve future adverts. It would also let people who are applying for jobs complain to the Workplace Relations Commission if an employer ignores these rules, helping tackle pay secrecy and reduce discrimination.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to make further and better provision for equality between employed persons by providing for transparency in respect of matters relating to remuneration, and for that and other purposes to amend the Employment Equality Acts 1998 to 2021 and to provide for related matters.
