Commissions of Investigation (Amendment) Bill 2023
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
Former members of a commission of investigation could be asked to appear before a Dáil or Seanad committee within six months after the commission’s final report is published. They could be questioned about how the investigation was run and whether it stayed within its terms of reference, but not about issues tied to court cases, confidential evidence, or certain people not named in the report; any disagreement about what must be answered could go to the High Court.
