Sex Offenders (Amendment) (Coercive Control) Bill 2023
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
It would add people convicted of coercive control to the sex offenders’ notification rules, so they must give Gardaí their name and address and keep that information updated. It would also let the courts impose extra supervision where needed to protect the public, require offenders applying for jobs with unsupervised access to children to disclose the conviction, and have the Justice Minister report on a way for victims to seek information about the offender.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Sex Offenders Act 2001 to make provision for the requirement, in the interests of the common good, for the notification of information to An Garda Síochána, by persons who have committed the offence of coercive control and to provide for related matters.
