Veterinary Medicinal Products, Medicated Feed and Fertilisers Regulation Bill 2023

It would put clearer rules in place for veterinary medicines and medicated feed, including who can prescribe, sell, import, store and dispense them, with extra controls for online and distance sales. It would also create a national digital database to record veterinary prescriptions and dispensing, and give authorised officers powers to inspect, enforce and take action against breaches. In addition, it would replace the old Animal Remedies Act 1993 and build a national fertiliser database to track fertiliser and lime from import to sale, helping improve oversight, traceability and safety.

Bill entitled an Act to make provision for the regulation of veterinary medicinal products and medicated feed; to provide for the establishment of a national database to record veterinary prescriptions; to repeal the Animal Remedies Act 1993; to amend and extend the Fertilisers Feeding Stuffs and Mineral Mixtures Act 1955; and to provide for connected matters.
