Anaerobic Digestion (National Strategy) Bill 2023
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The measure would let the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications draw up a national plan for anaerobic digestion, covering farms, food businesses, industry and homes. It aims to turn organic waste such as manure, food scraps and spent grain into biogas for energy and into fertiliser, helping cut emissions and grow renewable energy. The memorandum says it could also support farmers and other sectors by reducing waste, creating local energy, and expanding a technology that is already used on a very small scale in Ireland.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to make provision for a national anaerobic digestion strategy and to provide for related matters.
