Employment (Collective Redundancies and Miscellaneous Provisions) and Companies (Amendment) Bill 2023

It would tighten the rules for collective redundancies, especially where a company is insolvent, by making sure a responsible person such as a liquidator or receiver consults worker representatives, shares required information, and gives the Minister notice before redundancies go ahead. It also sets up a permanent Employment Law Review Group to keep employment law under review and advise on changes. On the company side, it would improve how workers are informed when a company goes into winding up or other insolvency processes, and make some creditor protections and anti-avoidance remedies easier to use. This matters because it gives workers earlier warning and better access to information when jobs or company assets are at risk.
