Electoral (Amendment) Bill 2023
Public bill · Government · Presented
Raises the number of TDs from 160 to 174 and redraws Dáil constituencies to reflect the latest population review. It expands the number of constituencies from 39 to 43 and sets how many TDs each one will elect, replacing the 2017 constituency map once the current Dáil is dissolved. The change matters because it updates representation after population shifts, aiming to keep seats broadly in line with where people live.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to provide for the number of members of Dáil Éireann; for the revision of Dáil constituencies; for the number of members to be elected for such Dáil constituencies; to repeal the Electoral (Amendment) (Dáil Constituencies) Act 2017; and to provide for related matters.
