Capital Supply Service and Purpose Report Bill 2023
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The proposal would require each government Minister to publish a report, four years after the end of a financial year, showing where capital spending went for their Department. It would list the main assets funded, the amounts spent, and the local areas where those assets are located, with a threshold so only items over €500,000 are covered and a limited option to delay sensitive commercial details. Its purpose is to make capital spending clearer and easier for the Oireachtas to track, so long-term public investment can be checked properly and more consistently.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to require each Minister of the Government, with responsibility for a Department of State, to periodically prepare a capital supply service and purpose report to provide certain information on the assets that were allocated money from the vote for such Department in a relevant financial year and to provide for related matters.
