Residential Tenancies (Amendment) (Sex for Rent) Bill 2024

The *Residential Tenancies (Amendment) (Sex for Rent) Bill 2024* would make it a criminal offence for a landlord to ask for sex instead of rent, or to advertise for such an arrangement, including on social media and similar platforms. It would update the residential tenancy rules to tackle “sex for rent” exploitation and protect vulnerable tenants seeking housing.

Bill entitled an Act to make it an offence for a landlord to seek sex in lieu of rent or to advertise to seek sex in lieu of rent and for that purpose to amend the Residential Tenancies Act 2004 and to provide for related matters.
