Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) (No. 2) Bill 2024
Public bill · Government · Presented
The bill tightens oversight of nursing homes and other residential services by giving the Chief Inspector stronger enforcement powers, including new compliance notices, faster time limits for appeals and responses, and the power to inspect suspected unregistered centres. It also lets health authorities collect, share and publish key nursing-home data in a way that protects individual identities, and gives clearer legal backing for complaints procedures. It also widens the family members who can qualify as a “family successor” for a family farm or business under the nursing home support scheme, so more relatives can step in and keep the farm or business going while care costs are managed.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to make certain provision in relation to residential services; and, for the foregoing purpose, to amend the Health Act 2007; to amend the Nursing Homes Support Scheme Act 2009; and to provide for related matters.
