Grocery Price Caps Bill 2024

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

Sets up a new Grocery Price Caps Commission to decide which basic foods should have maximum prices. In doing so, it aims to keep everyday groceries affordable, especially for low-paid workers and other vulnerable groups, by looking at how important the food is in a normal diet, recent price rises, and company profit margins. It also requires a government review of how the law is working within 12 months.
