Emergency Price Controls Bill 2024

Sets emergency price caps on petrol, diesel, electricity, natural gas and home heating oil, aiming to stop sharp energy and fuel price rises. It would cap petrol at €1.75 a litre, diesel at €1.75 a litre, electricity at 25c a kilowatt hour, gas at 8c a kilowatt hour and kerosene at €1 a litre. It would also require a review of the controls after 12 months and a report within 3 months on nationalising the energy system.
