Motor Insurance Insolvency Compensation Bill 2024
Public bill · Government · Presented
Creates a single official body to handle motor insurance claims when an insurer goes bust, with the Motor Insurers’ Bureau of Ireland named to do the job. It lets that body pay claims from the insurance compensation fund, aims to get payments to people faster, and makes insurers who sell cross-border motor policies in Ireland contribute to the cost. It also updates related rules so the process is clearer, more coordinated, and better able to deal with insolvencies in motor insurance.
Formal long title
