Agriculture Appeals (Amendment) Bill 2024
Public bill · Government · Introduced
The bill would create an independent review panel for agriculture appeals, so decisions made by appeals officers can be looked at again in certain cases. It would also allow hearings to take place in person or remotely, tighten rules on confidentiality, and give the Minister powers to set procedures for how the new panel works. In addition, it would remove the rule that members of the Aquaculture Licences Appeals Board must leave office at age 70.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to establish the Agriculture Appeals Review Panel to conduct reviews of decisions made by appeals officers under the Agriculture Appeals Act 2001; to prohibit unauthorised disclosures of information by members of the Agriculture Appeals Review Panel and the Forestry Appeals Committee; and, for those and other purposes, to amend the Agriculture Appeals Act 2001; to remove the requirement of members of the Aquaculture Licences Appeals Board to vacate office on attaining the age of 70 years and, for that purpose, to amend the Fisheries (Amendment) Act 1997; and to provide for related matters.
