Planning and Development (An Taisce) Bill 2024
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The measure would take An Taisce out of the list of organisations that must be notified or consulted in certain planning cases, including development plans, planning applications, local authority projects and environmental assessments. In plain terms, it would reduce An Taisce’s formal role in the planning process. Its supporters say this would stop delays to housing, farming, infrastructure and rural job-creating projects; critics would likely see it as weakening an environmental voice.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 and for that purpose to remove certain references to An Taisce, the National Trust for Ireland, and to provide for related matters.
