Disability (Personalised Budgets) Bill 2024
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The Disability (Personalised Budgets) Bill 2024 would let people with disabilities ask for a personalised budget to pay for the care or support services named in their service statement. It sets up a process for meeting the person, discussing what they need, and agreeing how the money will be managed — either by the person themselves, by someone helping them, by the Executive, or by a mix of these. It also requires clearer information and guidance on using the budget, choosing services, getting financial advice, and keeping records. The aim is to give people more choice and control over how disability supports are arranged and delivered.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend and extend the Disability Act 2005 and to provide for related matters.
