Protection of Voice and Image Bill 2025

Proposed laws would make it a specific offence to knowingly misuse someone’s name, photo, voice or likeness to cause harm, including through deepfakes and other misuse of personal data. It would give people stronger protection against having their identity copied or used maliciously, and it would require the Minister for Justice to review how the new rules are working after one year.
