Sale of Nitrous Oxide and Related Products Bill 2025
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
Limits the sale of nitrous oxide and related products to licensed wholesalers and registered retailers, and only to approved purchasers such as medical or commercial users. It also bans sales to anyone under 18, including online sales, and gives Gardaí power to seize canisters they reasonably believe are being misused in public. The aim is to reduce recreational misuse and the harm linked to it, especially among young people, without criminalising simple possession.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to regulate and licence the sale of nitrous oxide to exempted purchasers, to prohibit the sale of nitrous oxide and nitrous oxide products to a person who has not attained the age of 18 years, and to provide for related matters.
