No. 22 of 2025Forty-first Amendment of the Constitution (Reduction of Voting Age to Sixteen Years) Bill 2025
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
Proposes changing the Constitution so the voting age for Dáil elections would drop from 18 to 16. It reflects earlier calls to let younger people take part in elections, points to countries and regions where 16-year-olds can already vote, and says it would create a path for extending that change to local and European elections. If passed, it would give 16- and 17-year-olds a direct say in national democracy.
