Restrictive Financial Measures (State of Israel) Bill 2025

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

Powers would be given to the Minister for Finance to impose restrictions on buying, selling, or providing investment services for securities issued by or on behalf of the State of Israel, where the Minister believes the money raised would support the illegal occupation of the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Any rules made would have to be reviewed at least every six months, and breaking them would be an offence. The measure matters because it would let the State use financial restrictions to try to stop Irish-linked investment from supporting activities connected with the occupation.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to empower the Minister for Finance to make regulations imposing certain restrictive measures in respect of securities issued by or on behalf of the State of Israel; and to provide for related matters.
