Animal Health and Welfare (Ban on Fox Hunting) Bill 2025
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
Puts a clear ban on fox hunting by changing Ireland’s animal welfare law. It would make illegal not just hunting foxes with dogs, but also flushing or digging them out with dogs, trapping or snaring them to kill them, and trail hunting, and it would take effect six months after it is passed, or sooner if the Minister decides. The aim is to end a practice the sponsors describe as cruel and unnecessary.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013 to ban the hunting of a fox or foxes; and to provide for related matters.
