Forty-first Amendment of the Constitution (Voting Rights in Presidential Elections) Bill 2025
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The proposal would change the Constitution so that adult Irish citizens who can already vote in Dáil or presidential elections, and adult citizens living elsewhere on the island of Ireland, could vote in presidential elections if they meet the usual voting rules. It would also require the Oireachtas to pass the needed election law changes as soon as possible so that people living in the North of Ireland could actually use that right. In plain terms, it would widen who can take part in choosing the President.
Formal long title
