Health (Availability of General Practitioner Services) Bill 2025

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

Aims to make GP services more fairly available across the State by giving the HSE a clear duty to plan for access based on local need. It would require the HSE to take account of population patterns, where GPs are located, and wider health factors when deciding how services should be provided, and to report on progress in its corporate plan. The point is to tackle gaps where people have a legal right to GP access but, in practice, cannot find a doctor nearby.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to make provision in relation to the availability of general practitioner medical and surgical services throughout the State, and to provide for related matters.
