Coroners (Amendment) Bill 2025

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

A coroner would be able to record a new verdict of “iatrogenic suicide” where a person’s own death is caused mainly by the effects of medical treatment, including prescribed medication. The change is meant to distinguish these cases from ordinary suicide at inquests, while making clear that such a verdict would not decide civil or criminal liability.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to amend the Act of 1962, to provide for a verdict of Iatrogenic Suicide and related matters.
