Criminal Justice (Trespass on Land) Bill 2025

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

A new offence would be extended from trespass on a building to trespass on any land, if the trespass is done in a way that causes, or could cause, fear in another person. The aim is to tackle problems raised by farmers and rural communities, including unauthorised use of fields and farm land by quads, scramblers, motorcycles and other disruptive activity. It matters because it would give wider legal protection to agricultural and community land, not just buildings and their immediate surroundings.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to amend the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act 1994 and to provide for related matters.
