No. 56 of 2025

Public Health (Alcohol) (Amendment) Bill 2025

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

Limits advertising for alcohol-free and low-alcohol drinks when they use the same branding, logos, images, or trade descriptions as stronger alcohol products. Its aim is to stop “copycat” promotion that could indirectly advertise regular alcohol under the cover of non-alcoholic versions, which matters because it tightens alcohol marketing rules and supports public health efforts to reduce exposure to alcohol advertising.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to amend the Public Health (Alcohol) Act 2018 by restricting the advertising of alcohol-free and low-alcohol products bearing any statement of any trade description or designation, or a display or other publication of a trademark, emblem, marketing image or logo, of an alcohol product with the aim or direct or indirect effect of promoting an alcohol product.
