Electricity (Supply) (Amendment) Bill 2025
Public bill · Government · Presented
Raises ESB’s legal borrowing limit from €12 billion to €17 billion so it can help fund a major electricity grid investment programme. It also lets the State inject up to €1.5 billion into ESB by buying new capital stock, with a small matching share offer available to ESB employees so their ownership percentage can be maintained. The aim is to finance grid upgrades, strengthen energy security, support renewables, and create jobs.
Formal long title
