Water Services (Repeal of Water Charges) Bill 2025
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The Water Services (Repeal of Water Charges) Bill 2025 would remove the legal power that lets Uisce Éireann charge domestic customers for using more than a set amount of water. In practical terms, it would stop any new “excessive use” water charge from being introduced for households. It matters because it would protect home users from being billed extra for higher water use and would reverse part of the 2017 water services law.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to repeal the provision in the Water Services Act 2017 allowing Uisce Éireann to introduce a customer charge for use of water in excess of the specified threshold amount.
