Health (Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy) (Amendment) Bill 2026

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

The proposal would change Ireland’s abortion law so that a person seeking an abortion on request would no longer have to wait three days before the procedure can happen. Its main aim is to make access quicker and simpler by removing that mandatory delay. It matters because it would reduce waiting time for people making time-sensitive and personal healthcare decisions.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to amend the Health (Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy) Act 2018 to abolish the 3 day waiting period for abortion on request.
