Gas Safety and Miscellaneous Amendments Bill 2026
Public bill · Government · Presented
The proposed law would give the Commission for the Regulation of Utilities stronger powers to police gas safety in Ireland, especially for natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas. It would require gas operators to put safety cases and permits in place for specified activities, cover more domestic LPG networks that were previously outside the system, and let the Commission take faster action when safety rules are breached. It also tightens the powers of gas emergency and safety officers, adds an appeal route for some Commission decisions, and removes older rules that are no longer needed.
