CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CROOKHAVEN PIER—EXTENSION OF.

Thomas Alexander Nagle Mr. NAGLE (for Tadhg O Murchadha) Labour Party

asked the Minister for Fisheries whether he is aware that the need for the extension of the Crookhaven Pier, County Cork, is very much felt by local fishermen and the population generally, and whether his Department will have an examination of the Pier made and local representations considered, with a view to giving effect to the proposal.

Edmund John Duggan Mr. E.J. DUGGAN (Parliamentary Secretary) (replying) Cumann na nGaedheal

I am not aware that there is at present any pressing need for extending the harbour accommodation at Crookhaven, and in view of the small number of fishing boats using the harbour, I consider that the existing piers and quayage are adequate.
