I move:—That the Ceann Comhairle direct the Clerk of the Dáil to issue his writ for the election of a member to fill the vacancy which has occurred in the membership of the present Dáil consequent on the death of Deputy Darrell Figgis, a member for the constituency of Dublin County.

I may say, A Chinn Comhairle, I should have moved this earlier were it not for the fact that in the constituency there is great objection to an election immediately before Christmas; they think it bad for trade. But I do not think it right that the seat should be left vacant any longer.

I move:—"That the Ceann Comhairle direct the Clerk of the Dáil to issue his writ for the election of a member to fill the vacancy which has occurred in the membership of the present Dáil consequent on the disqualification of Deputy John McGuinness from sitting as a member for the constituency of Leix-Offaly."
