asked the Minister for Fisheries if any representation has been made to his Department by the County Kilkenny Cot Fishermen's Association asking for an inquiry into the big net fishing system which is in operation on the River Nore, and whether he intends to take any action to protect the interests of the cot and rod fishermen.

I have received a complaint from the County Kilkenny Cot Fishermen's Association regarding the use of a particular net at Inishtioge on the River Nore. An inquiry by my Department into the net fishing in this district has been promised and will be held as soon as can be arranged.
