CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - EMPLOYMENT IN CANTEENS.

Hugh Colohan AODH O CULACHAIN Labour Party

asked the Minister for Defence whether the contract given on the 28th February, 1927, for supplies in the wet and dry canteens on the Curragh Camp contained any provisions for the re-employment of men employed previously in this connection by Army contractors, and, if not, whether in future contracts of this nature, arrangements will be made to ensure that men already employed on canteen work will be retained.

Peter Hughes MINISTER for DEFENCE (Mr. Hughes) Cumann na nGaedheal

The contract contained no provisions of the nature referred to by the Deputy. It is not practicable to ensure that future contractors will provide for the retention of men previously employed on canteen work.
