CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ACQUISITION OF TIPPERARY ESTATES.

Timothy Sheehy Mr. SHEEHY (Tipperary) Fianna Fáil

asked the Minister for Fisheries whether the Land Commission has acquired the Trench Estate, Redwood; Carroll Estate, Tullow; and Morris Estate, Traverstown, County Tipperary; and whether it is intended to distribute the said lands among the uneconomic holders and landless persons of the parishes in which the estates are situated.

Comment on this

The Land Commission have acquired untenated lands on the Trench and Carroll Estates, and the offer issued by them for the purchase of the Morris Estate has been accepted by the owner, but the lands have not yet been vested in the Land Commission. Untenanted land acquired by the Land Commission will be divided by the Commissioners in the exercise of their discretion to the best advantage, and the claims of all suitable applicants will receive the fullest consideration.
