asked the Minister for Finance if representations had been made to him asking for the insertion in the proposals for legislation which it is intended to introduce shortly to deal with the position of certain exmembers of the R.I.C., of a section which would deal with the claims of ex-Connaught Rangers who are in a similar category; and whether he proposes to do so.

Representations of the nature referred to in the question have been received but in this connection I would refer the Deputy to my reply to a similar question asked by him on the 10th November, 1927.

Could the Minister give any indication now as to the date of the introduction of the proposed amending Bill referred to in the question?

I cannot give the exact date. I hope it will be within a month.

I would like to ask the Minister if it would be correct to state that the committee of inquiry set up by the Government to inquire into the claims of the ex-Connaught Rangers made recommendations that these men receive grants or gratuities and that the Minister would not agree to such recommendations?

I do not think so.
